A member of the ILB crew was transferred to the trimaran and the anchor was then able to be pulled free.   A tow was set up and the trimaran was taken into the harbour and handed on the Harbour Staff.  The Norman Harvey then returned to the station and was recovered by 18:00.

29th May

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar 16-17) was launched at the request of Solent CG at around 10:00 this morning to assist a 30 ft yacht on passage from France with 4 crew onboard who were suffering from fatigue, engine failure and flat batteries south of the Nab Tower.

As communications were patchy (no power for VHF and they only had a mobile phone as a back up) it took a little time to locate the yacht.  She was then put under tow to Portsmouth; however as GAFIRS were out on their normal Sunday patrol, the tow was transferred to them south of Spitbank Fort and the Alfred Albert Williams returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 11:45.

The Anita was located at around 04:05 and having decided that it was not possible to effect a temporary repair it was agreed that she would be towed to Gosport Marina (rather than her marina berth in Chichester) where she was berthed by 06:25.  The Alfred Albert Williams then returned to Bembridge and was rehoused just after 07:00.

The Mayflower was located at around 22:35 and having decided that it was not possible to effect a temporary repair she was towed to Haslar Marina where she was berthed by 00:30 (Sunday).  The Alfred Albert Williams then returned to Bembridge and was rehoused by 01:00 (Sunday).

Portsmouth RNLI Atlantic 85 had been tasked earlier to search for the boat but because communications had been very intermittent, the CG sensibly decided to use the Tamar's better search capability to find her.  The Fortunella was located by the Alfred Albert Williams at around 03:20 and towed into Haslar Marina where she was berthed by 05:15.  The Alfred Albert Williams then returned to Bembridge and was rehoused by 05:45.
