27th September

The Frank and Anne Wilkinson (relief Tamar 16-06) launched at 01:33 at the request of Solent Coastguard to assist a 20m converted (to a "tall ship") MFV with 5 crew on board approximately 5 miles SSW of St Catherine's Point that had reported (on a mobile as their VHF was not working) that she was taking in water.

The Frank and Anne Wilkinson reached the Revenge at 02:18 and two lifeboat crew members were transferred to her assess the situation.  They confirmed that the water was coming from the stern gland but was being contained by the pumps, so having ascertained from the skipper that he and his crew wished to continue their passage from Bristol via Plymouth to Brighton and having left a hand held VHF radio on board (the Revenge's VHF was not working), they returned to the Frank and Anne Wilkinson which then headed back to Bembridge and was rehoused by 04:15.
