16th November

Bembridge RNLI's All-Weather Lifeboat (RNLB Alfred Albert Williams) launched late this afternoon to assist a 7m angling boat that had broken down 10 miles south of Bembridge.

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar All-Weather Lifeboat 16-17) was launched at 4.25pm this afternoon at the request of UK (Solent) Coastguard to assist the two crew of a 7m Angling Boat that had broken down 10 miles south of Bembridge and was drifting eastwards.

Conditions were benign so they were able to make good speed to the reported location of the casualty vessel, however not long after they reached the area they were informed by the Coastguard that the angling boat had regained propulsion and was making her own way back to Portsmouth.

The Alfred Albert Williams was therefore released at around 4.50pm and returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 6pm.

The slight detour on the return was to launch and test run the Y-boat which had recently had a new engine fitted.
