February 2019

8th February

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar All-Weather Lifeboat 16-17) was launched this evening at 5.30pm at the request of UK (Solent) Coastguard to assist Portsmouth RNLI's Atlantic 85 (B-846 - Norma T) in the area of Langstone Harbour entrance with a 40 foot yacht that had broken its mooring and drifted out of the harbour.

The Alfred Albert Williams RV'd with the Norma T a cable NW of Langstone Fairway marker at around 5:45pm and assisted by a crew member from the Norma T onboard the yacht established a tow back into Langstone Harbour in the very turbulent wind over tide conditions.

Once back in smoother waters, the tow was transfered back to the Norma T (who berthed the yacht on the Hayling Ferry pontoon) and the Alfred Albert Williams returned to Bembridge.  She was recovered by 7.30pm.
