The Tamar Class Lifeboat "Alfred Albert Williams" was officially placed on service at 22:00hrs on Wednesday 20th October 2010 after the Depty Divisional Inspectors exercise and will officially be known now as Bembridge Lifeboat 

August Services

Saturday 21st

We  launched at 18:28 at the request of Solent MRCC after the spoken words Mayday were received stating that a 20ft speedboat had hit an submerged object to the east of St Catherine’s point.

On route Solent gave us a Datum point to start an expanding square search, with the first heading of 270°, and a track spacing of ½ mile, the visibility was down to around ½ a mile sometimes less with a moderate sea.  

July Services

Wednesday 28th

We were requested to launch after Solent MRCC had received a Mayday broadcast from the 37’yacht “ZARA” with two POB  that had been dismasted some two miles SW of the Nab Tower.

The Lifeboat proceeded at best speed arriving on-scene to find the casualty drifting its sails and mast over the starboard side and the vessel “Pimpernel“ standing by.

Sunday 27th


We were requested to launch by Solent MRSC after a member of the public had reported that two small sailing dinghies were in difficulties off Seaview, the local coastguard had been dispatched to spring vale road and confirmed that assistance was required.

The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest (Berkshire), Councillor Bob Wade, the Mayoress Maggie Wade and the Chairman of the Crowthorne & District RNLI, Anthony Cox and guests were invited to take a look at the work-in-progress at the Bembridge RNLI lifeboat station, to see where their fundraising efforts have been used.

May Services

We launched on Thursday 20th at 02:26 to assist a small angling vessel the “Cormorant” that had become unsure of its position as thick fog came down.

April Services


We were requested to launch to assist in the evacuation of a passenger from the Cruise Liner “Ventura” that was coming down the eastern Solent on passage to Gibraltar. 

The Lifeboat with the Doctor onboard made best speed and rendezvoused in the vicinity of the North Sturbridge buoy.
